About Our Organizer

Jessica Gallardo

I was first introduced to climbing in middle school, I was fortunate that I attended a school that had a small top rope wall and traverse section for 7th and 8th graders to access for P.E. While I did enjoy my climbing circuit in middle school immensely, I didn’t really climb until 2019, right before the pandemic hit. Although it was difficult to maintain some consistency throughout, I did not have difficulty establishing community here at Pacific Edge. I’m very thankful to occupy a space here and have people who have been very welcoming and who are sources of knowledge that’ve helped me grow as a climber and individual. As a womxn of color, it had always seemed a bit intimidating to enter a whole different world than what I was used to on my own, especially in the absence of people who looked like me. However, I am excited to see that climbing spaces are changing and growing to allow more folks to access these spaces and make them feel welcomed.
