About Our Organizers
Shirley (She/Her)
Shirley started climbing in the mountaineering group at Carlmont highschool, graduating early to become a climbing bum in Yosemite.
She moved on to long distance biking, and mini triathlons.
In the late 90s, she moved to Santa Cruz, pursuing photography and raising her son, being involved with his education. There was some skate-boarding in there as well. Presently, Shirley is a bastion of her local community, spending her days climbing, reading, walking her dog, spending time in nature, and helping others.
Diane(She/Her)
Diane began her indoor climbing career at the young age of 62. For many years, Diane has traveled the world and climbed ruins on several continents. She finds climbing in the gym wonderful in a different way. Mistress of the Rainbow Routes, Diane is always happy to just make it to the top. Climbing has been extremely beneficial after a full knee replacement last year. Diane rocks 120 + degrees of bend on the wall. Diane has been a volunteer belayer with The Nature Academy and Shared Adventures and encouraging others in the sport she loves. In her spare time when not climbing or traveling, Diane is an author, illustrator, and artist, with her dog being her favorite subject.
