About Our Organizers
taemon (he/him)
While Tae is relatively new to climbing, he makes up for his lack of experience with his stoke. Starting in 2022, he instantly fell in love with the movement, the places it took him, and the people it brought. After only about a year of climbing, he was invited to co-host BIPOC events for the Santa Cruz BIPOC Climbers. Since then, created spaces of inclusion within the world of climbing has been a passion. When he isn’t in the gym or out on rock, he is usually playing with his cats. That is unless the sierras have snow, in which case, you can catch him on the slopes!
Adeline (she/her)
To me, climbing has always been about connection. I’ve moved 3 times over the last 4 years, and climbing has been an easy way to meet others each time. I’ve been lucky enough to find a great community here in Santa Cruz through BIPOC Night, and I am excited to be hosting and growing this affinity space!
Kaela(she/her)
The first thing I did when I moved to Santa Cruz was attend BIPOC Climb Night, and the instant community I gained has been lasting! I love the social aspect of climbing, which makes each send more enjoyable and each project more exciting. I'm excited to foster that space through BIPOC Climb Night, to create a place where everyone feels inspired and supported in their climbing journey!
Community and Inclusion at PE:
At Pacific Edge, we strive to cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. We prioritize community care and safety, especially for those historically marginalized in climbing and outdoor spaces. This includes affirming and creating space for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, women, disabled, and newcomer climbers.
All are welcome—respect, kindness, and accountability are expected. If you witness or experience harm or exclusion, please let a staff member know or email us at management@pacificedgeclimbinggym.com. We are committed to addressing concerns with transparency and care while respecting the BIPOC space, the hosts, and attendees.
