About Our Organizers

Hayden Ventrella (they/them)

Hello! I’m Hayden and I use they/them pronouns. I’m originally from Morrisville, North Carolina but spent the last seven years in San Luis Obispo. I just moved to Santa Cruz to finish my Undergrad at UCSC in Politics and History of Consciousness. I started climbing just over a year ago and immediately became obsessed! I love a crimpy, techy route and am excited to get more outdoor climbing in as I’ve become more immersed in the community. Outside of climbing, I am really passionate about climate justice and environmental ethics, and I love yoga, surfing, hiking, and trying to crochet.

Joey Cohen (She/they)

Hi! My name is Joey and I use she/they pronouns. I grew up in Los Angeles, California in the San Fernando Valley. I have always had a passion for the ocean and moved to Santa Cruz to study Marine Biology at UCSC. I started climbing about two years ago and fell in love with the sport immediately! I really enjoy stemmy climbs and the occasional slab. I am so grateful for the positive environment at Pacific Edge and all the kind, welcoming people I have met :) On my free time I love to read, go tide-pooling, and crochet with friends! I am really excited to host Queer Climbing Night and create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere. Can’t wait to meet you all!
