Pacific Edge hosts a variety of climbing competitions throughout the year, some specifically targeted at bouldering or climbers under 18 years of age and others open to all participants and types of climbing. New routes are set a few days before the competition, often kept pristine (unclimbed) until the comp begins, offering a diversity of challenges for climbers at all levels. We are usually in need of volunteer judges and/or belayers for the day of the comp. Sign-up lists are posted a week in advance at the front desk in the gym or you can volunteer that day. Volunteers receive a free day pass for each hour worked. We welcome competitors and spectators from near and far!

Youth Climbing League-YCL Comp

Pacific Edge's turn to host one of the Youth Climbing League's local competitions! Come watch our team compete against other Bay Area climbing gyms!

• Each gym hosts one competition per season, with one gym choosing to host the championships. • Competitions take place primarily on Saturdays or Sundays over the course of 10 weeks in January and February, with the championship in early March. • Competitors are broken into categories by age and gender. • Competitors follow a circuit that includes: top-rope routes, boulder problems and speed routes • Ribbons are awarded to the top 5 competitors in each age/gender category. The top 5 competitors in each age/gender group will also earn points towards their team’s score. The season ends with a championship competition, at which trophies are awarded to teams and individuals. Final awards are based on cumulative performance throughout the season.
